See American Bison Back Home on the Range in New York and celebrate National Kids to Parks Day with Buddy Bison Saturday, May 18. Start your adventure at the Fort Stanwix National Monument Willett Center. Examine real bison heads, hooves, and horns and explore nature's balance of bison and wolf in Yellowstone National Park. Create a nature collage and your own National Parks scrapbook. Discover how the National Park Service is returning the American Bison back home on the range.

After participating in National Kids to Parks activities at Fort Stanwix from 10 am to 1 pm, children will earn a group pass to visit Buddy Bison's cousins at Fort Rickey Children's Discovery Zoo. The group pass includes:

  • Child's admission from 1:30 pm to 4 pm.
  • One free portion of animal food per child
  • Group animal presentation at 2 pm
  • 1/2 hour in playland
  • One chaperone free for every 6 children

The next Backyard Rangers will be held June 15, 2013 at Fort Stanwix National Monument. All programs are free and reservations are recommended as space is limited.Fort Stanwix National Monument is open seven days a week from 9 am to 5 pm. Admission to the park is free.
