MANTEO, N.C. — National Park Service staff at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Wright Brothers National Memorial will provide educational talks and tours during this year’s OBX History Weekend.

OBX History Weekend is an international symposium, exhibition and series of tours that provides opportunities for scholars to present new information to the public on a variety of historical topics.

On Wednesday, March 30, the first day of OBX History Weekend, the public can listen to and participate in educational talks and tours between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site and Wright Brothers National Memorial.

Between Thursday, March 31 and Saturday, April 2, the public is invited to attend a three-day symposium. The theme for the symposium is Searchers of New Horizons, which celebrates the questers, inventors, dreamers and pioneers whose paths included the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Symposium presentations will be held at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site’s Gazebo Theatre at the north end of Roanoke Island, Cape Hatteras National Seashore’s Billy Mitchell Airport in Frisco and the Pioneer Theatre in Manteo.

Additional details about OBX History Weekend, including a detailed schedule, listing of presenters and registration form, can be found on the First Colony Foundation’s website at www.obxhistoryweekend.com.
