Permits & Reservations

Do you need a permit or reservation?

Permits or reservations are only required in special circumstances, and may not be necessary for every visit to Fort Necessity National Battlefield. During the summer, programs are offered daily between mid-June and late August.

When in doubt, please contact us by e-mail or call us at 724-329-5805 to see if you need to have a permit or reservation!

Permits

Special use permits are required for any activity that provides a benefit to an individual, group or organization rather than the public at large. A permit is also required for an activity not initiated, sponsored, nor conducted by the National Park Service that is disruptive or potentially disruptive to normal park operations.

This includes but is not limited to weddings, concerts, photographs, filming, training, trail maintenance, service projects, right of way, grazing, agriculture, and mineral rights.

A $50 non-refundable application fee must be submitted with the application form for the application to be considered. If the permit is approved and issued, additional fees will be charged to recover costs incurred by the National Park Service for administering the permitted activity.

School and Educational Field Trips

For more information about on-site field trips for school groups, please check out our Field Trip page. We gladly welcome you to visit us at Fort Necessity, but we may also be able to come visit you! Distance learning opportunities are available as well.

Off-Site Programs

If your group cannot make it to the site for any reason, park rangers are available for programs at your site. Call 724-329-5805 for more information. We ask generally that groups are located within 50 miles of Fort Necessity National Battlefield. Availability varies as staffing permits.

Self-Guided Groups

Reservations are not required for self-guided school, educational, and non-educational groups as they are no different than any other regular visit to Fort Necessity. However, we suggest that you call in advance to avoid overlapping with large numbers of groups. Mid-April through early June are often busy with groups.
