Fort Necessity National Battlefield hosts Encampment June 22-23

FARMINGTON, Pa:  Fort Necessity National Battlefield will host an eighteenth century period military encampment on June 22 and 23. The encampment will highlight camp life of British and French Soldiers and Natives Allies during the French and Indian War. The camps and will be located near the reconstructed Fort Necessity at the park's main unit. Re-enactors will demonstrate the daily life of French and British Regulars, American Provincials, French-Canadian Militia, civilians and Native American warriors when not on campaign.

Special programs offered each day at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. will be followed by demonstrations of historic black powder muskets and artillery.

The programs will take place rain or shine and visitors are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather. Admission to the park and the programs is free. ABOUT FORT NECESSITY NATIONAL BATTLEFIELD
The battle at Fort Necessity in the summer of 1754 was the opening action of the French and Indian War. This war was a clash of British, French and American Indian cultures. It ended with the removal of French power from North America, setting the stage for the American Revolution. Fort Necessity National Battlefield preserves and tells the story of this first campaign of the French & Indian War. The visitor center is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the park grounds are open daily sunrise to sunset. Admission to Fort Necessity National Battlefield is free.
