Operating Hours & Seasons

Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine is open year-round with the exception of Thanksgiving Day, December 25, and January 1. Park passes may be purchased at the Visitor Center or you can purchase a pass online. Park registers for purchasing Star Fort Historic Zone entry or America The Beautiful Passes are open from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

The park's operating hours are as follows:

Summer Season—Memorial Day to Labor Day

Monday—Friday 

• Park grounds are open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Last entry into the park is at 4:45 p.m.

• Visitor Center is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

  • Pets are not permitted in the Visitor Center or Historic Star Fort. Service animals are permitted in these areas while functioning in their work capacity. For more information, please visit our Pets page.

• Star Fort Historic Zone is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Saturday—Sunday

• Park grounds are open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Last entry into the park is at 5:45 p.m.

• Visitor Center is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Purchase Entry Passes Ahead of Time

To avoid lines in the park visitor center, visitors are encouraged to purchase their entry passes for the Star Fort Historic Zone ahead of time.
