Meet Cheryl Jaworowski

Cheryl Jaworowski
Occupation:
Geologist

Educational Background: B.A. in Geology and minor in Russian Language from Rutgers
University; M.S. and Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Wyoming with an emphasis on
Quaternary Geology and Remote Sensing.

Best part about being a scientist: “Being curious about the natural world, asking questions about how things work, and communicating with other scientists makes science fun.”

Life experiences that led to a career in science: “As a teenager, I used my eyes and a telescope to look at the night sky. In college, I became fascinated with geology when I took my first geology class.”

Hobbies: Hiking, camping, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, practicing yoga and tai chi, making jewelry, and organic gardening.

Musical Tastes:
Varied, but movie soundtracks to Shrek I and Shrek II are favorites.

Research: What geologic processes were involved in forming the landscape surrounding me? What geologic processes or forces are responsible for changes that I observe?
