Water

RUNOFF

Fresh water streams may also be affected by hydrothermal influx. For example, the Firehole River receives runoff from the Upper, Midway, and Lower Geyser Basins which changes both the temperature and chemistry of the river’s water. Compare the sample data taken at Kepler Cascades, (before the river enters the geyser basins) with data taken as the Firehole River progresses downstream.
