Law enforcement rangers are on patrol while you are in the park. These rangers have full police powers, and may issue citations or make arrests.
Park Regulations
For your safety, please follow all posted signs and regulations while visiting Thomas Edison National Historical Park. A full list of regulations may be found on our park's
Laws and Policies page. Here are some highlights:
- No pets are allowed in the park. Service animals are the only exception to this rule.
- Food and drink are not allowed in park buildings.
- No flash photography inside park buildings, and no photography or video recording of any kind while inside Glenmont.
- Bicycles, e-bikes, skateboards, roller blades, roller skates, scooters, hoverboards, Segways, and other forms of wheeled conveyance are not allowed in the Laboratory Complex or on the grounds of Glenmont - with the exception of personal assistive devices such as wheelchairs or knee scooters. Further, park staff cannot be responsible for the keeping of these items during a visitor's stay. It is up to the visitor to safely secure and store them.
- Ball playing, flying discs, games of catch, hitting baseballs or golf balls, and other forms of recreation that rely on propelling an object through the air are not allowed on park grounds.
- Drones and other remote controlled, unmanned flying devices, whether considered toys or otherwise, are not permitted on or above park grounds.
In addition, please note that the park is located within both the town of West Orange and, in part, the private community of Llewellyn Park. As partners, we ask that you also follow the rules and regulations set forth by these parties, as well as all applicable state and federal laws.
