Both Everglades and Dry Tortugas National Parks experienced some impacts from the passage of Hurricane Ike. Thus, a temporary closure has been enacted for both parks and will be extended through Wednesday, September 10. During this time, no public access will be available to visitor areas at either park. The closures are necessary to allow staff to focus on recovery operations. Crews will be surveying all park areas for damage, clearing park roads and trails, and preparing facilities to resume normal business. It is expected that both parks will promptly open to visitation once recovery operations are complete.
