Dry Tortugas Artists-in-Residence Public Presentations in Key West October 1 and 4

Dry Tortugas National Park and the National Park Arts Foundation (NPAF) are pleased to announce public events being held in Key West on October 1 and 4 by the first resident artist Anna Glynn.  Both events are free and open to the public. 

A foundation dedicated to bringing world class arts to the National Parks provided a once in a lifetime opportunity for Australian Multimedia Artist Anna Glynn and her partner, Biologist, Art Worker and Curator Peter Dalmazzo, to live for a month on a pristine isolated Florida key with its own old lighthouse.  

After coming back from Loggerhead Key in the Dry Tortugas, the Artists-in-Residence will present public programs at two locations in the Keys. They will premiere excerpts from new work and share experiences during their residency, an extended trailer for a new multimedia project, and will speak about their exciting time at Dry Tortugas National Park and also about their past work.

Also attending will be the President of the National Parks Arts Foundation, Tanya Ortega, Emmy award winning Filmmaker and Activist Ylonda Viola, the two Dry Tortugas Artists-in-Residence, Anna Glynn and Peter Dalmazzo, and from the Park Service, Park Manager Glenn Simpson.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS: 

Anna Glynn is a multimedia artist, originally from Melbourne, whose work includes painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, writing, music, sound, installation, film, animation and theatre. Glynn’s art-practice has been inspired by her working and collaborating internationally exploring different cultures and new materials.

Peter Dalmazzo is an Australian environmental scientist, arts worker and curator. Dalmazzo has more than 26 years experience working in the fields of biology, estuarine and coastal management, environmental planning and assessment, public place planning, community engagement and education.
