Use of Dry Tortugas National Park Mooring Balls Restricted Key West, Florida: Superintendent Dan Kimball announced today that all mooring balls within the Research Natural Area at Dry Tortugas National Park will be restricted from visitor use for needed repairs effective immediately. These mooring balls include; RNAMB1 (Windjammer) N24°37.413 W082°56.548, RNAMB2 (The Maze) N24°36.600 W082°56.914, RNAB3 (Davis Rock) N24°41.209 W082°54.440, RNAB4 (Texas Rock) N24°40.082 W082°53.125, RNAB5 (Off Ramp) N24°40.156 W082°54.506, LMBSE (Loggerhead SE) N24°37.833 W082°55.187, LMBSW (Loggerhead SW) N24°37.8031 W082°55.546. Visitors wanting to use and/or access these areas will be allowed to temporarily anchor in sandy bottom only. Overnight anchorage is only allowed within one nautical mile of Fort Jefferson. Mooring balls may still be visible at designated coordinates but are restricted from use. The public will be notified when the repairs and removal of these mooring balls is completed. Boat permits are still required for all activities within Dry Tortugas National Park by ALL vessels. For permit, either contact ranger on Garden Key or call 305-224-4255. -NPS- |
