Sunrise and Sunset in Death Valley

Purple mountains and pink sky reflected in shallow water in a desert.
Sometimes the best location for sunset is wherever you are! This photo was taken in spring just off CA Hwy 190.

One of the most beautiful times to see the desert is when the sun is close to the horizon. The soft colors of sunrise and sunset reveal the many different moods of Death Valley. Some of the most dramatic photographs of Death Valley have been shot during the early morning and late evening.

Visit the Death Valley National Weather Service page for today's sunrise/sunset times. While the official sunrise and sunset times indicate when the sun will pass behind the curve of the earth, the actual time will vary according to your location due to features such as mountains.
