Current Plow Crew Work Locations: Crews are working between Upper Hogan and Sanctuary Campground today (Mile 20-22). There proved to be enough ice in Upper Hogan to warrant welding on the ice cleats to the dozer tracks. Welding on the cleats will take the better part of today. Once completed, the ripping of the ice should only take three hours. I have attached a photo of welding the ice cleats to the track pads.
Steam Crew Locations: The steam crew started yesterday and reported to Mile 17. Today they will work on Upper Hogan mile 17.
Snow Depths: 2' average. 5' was the deepest
Aufeis Depths: Upper Hogan drainage was full. Nothing over the road
Road Open to Public Traffic: Mt. Vista
Equipment Status: All is well. Thanks auto shop. Welding ice cleats
Road Crew Staff On-Duty Today: Paul Franke, Martin Weiner, Bob James, Mary Pearson, Mike McAloon, Stacey Skrivanek, Lance Greene
Current Weather Forecast. Could turn to rain and make it sloppy
Current Weather at HQ: Looks like summer to me.
Wildlife Sightings: Ptarmigan and 2 eagles at mile 17
Notes/Observations/Comments: With the warm forecast we expect to see a diminishing snow pack and increased ice creation. Possible snow and or rain in the forecast.
