Weather Report

Its been a busy morning at both 7K and 14K, so we don't have today's weather observations.  Based on the view from Talkeetna, skies are generally clear in the Alaska Range, with a cloud layer at around 18,000 feet. The summits of Foraker and Hunter were both visible, but the top of Denali was in clouds.

Ranger Update

NPS Denali Patrol #5 (McBrayer, 4 VIPs)  Joey McBrayer and his volunteer crew flew out on Saturday afternoon.

NPS Denali Patrol #6 is (Gentzel, Corn, 4 VIPs)  Dan Corn and 3 VIPs are camped at 17,200-feet, and all four took advantage of nice weather and went for the summit yesterday. Coley Gentzel and VIP physician Scott Owens have taken breaks from packing up camp infrastructure to assist a sick climber at 14,200-foot camp.

NPS Basecamp Patrol #6 (Weber + 1 VIP) Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) ranger Nick Pedersen joined Dave Weber at the Kahiltna Basecamp on Saturday, when Dave's VIP flew out. Together they are disassembling NPS basecamp infrastructure, much of which will get flown off tomorrow when Dave and Nick fly out. Basecamp Manager (for TAT and K2) Lisa Roderick will remain on the glacier until next week, coordinating flights for the last few teams of the season and providing weather observations.

Route Conditions

Lower glaciers still in great shape. Crevasses are opening, but more slowly compared to other years.
