Any frequent observers of this site will notice a sudden 'surge' in Foraker climbers from 4 to 12 this week. This change is due to a snag in the database that was discovered and corrected -- we were inadvertently undercounting. And yes, four of them summitted!
Mountain Weather
Weather station telemetry data from 7K and 14K are transmitted hourly to the MesoWest website, including temperatures, wind speed, wind direction, snowfall, and solar radiation.
MountainWeather.com compiles a Denali Weather page, complete with links to the MesoWest data, the NWS Denali Climbing Forecasts, as well as links to FAA webcams.
The National Weather Service publishes their mountain-specific forecast here: Denali Climbing Forecast
The FAA webcam on the Kahiltna Glacier has yet to be installed for the 2023 season, but we'll let you now when its up and operational.
Conditions Reports
In addition to the NPS patrol members at 14K, there are currently 7 other teams still on Denali - at least two of which that are sitting at Basecamp, waiting for the skies to clear.
Freezing level is currently around 10,000 feet, with rain falling below that level, snow above. Lower glacier remains in decent shape, though softening. Still lots of snow up high.
Search and Rescue Activity
All quiet.
