Though all climbers are currently off the mountain, be aware that these statistics are not yet final.  There are two climbers currently registered to climb in August, if conditions allow. Additionally, registration staff will be performing some quality control on the database figures, so the final annual statistics may vary slightly from those above.

Stay tuned this fall for our Annual Mountaineering Summary 2015 for more in depth statistics, i.e. stats by route, nations represented, average age etc.

Ranger Update

Last Thursday we erroneously reported that 'no rangers were ranging in the range' that day, but lo and behold, I had forgotten poor Chris Erickson and Dan Corn, who were slogging their way out of the Alaska Range in a torrential downpour.  So sorry, Chris and Dan!  In addition to the photo below, we will post more photos and a trip report from their soggy patrol next week.

But even before that, we've got a forthcoming trip report from Chris and Mik Shain's patrol to the Eldridge Glacier, stay tuned.

Route Conditions

The (final?) two climbers on Denali checked back with the ranger station staff yesterday afternoon after a successful climb. They reported at least one notable (20-foot) crevasse fall on the increasingly punchy and crevasse-ridden lower glacier, but the team was able to successfully self-rescue.

As mentioned above, two other climbers are currently registered for an August climb.
