Motorized Vehicle Access Plan and Environmental Assessment Available for Review Curecanti National Recreation Area is pleased to announce the release of the Motorized Vehicle Access Plan and Environmental Assessment (Plan/EA) for public review. This Plan/EA analyzes a range of alternatives for management of motorized vehicle access and their impacts on the environment. Superintendent Connie Rudd explained that, "The Plan/EA seeks to provide a clear direction for managing motorized vehicles off park roads while preserving and protecting the natural and cultural resources and natural processes of the recreation area, providing for appropriate recreational opportunities, and promoting the safety of all visitors and employees." The motorized vehicle access plan is available electronically on the National Park Service Planning, Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) website at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/CUREVehicleEA. Printed copies and compact disks of the Plan/EA are available upon request. Hard copies are also available for review at local libraries. We invite you to review the Plan/EA and provide your comments. You can provide your comments during our Open House, December 1, 2010, from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at the Fred R. Field Western Heritage Center, located at 275 South Spruce Street in Gunnison.
