Cumberland Gap National Historical Park Offers Junior Ranger Bike Ride

With summer winding down, Cumberland Gap National Historical Park will host one more Junior Ranger bike ride before it’s time to head back to school to crack open those books.  Scheduled for August 9^th, at 10 a.m., biking enthusiasts should meet at the Rails-to-Trails parking area gazebo (left side-traveling eastbound on US Highway 58, approximately 1 mile from the Wilderness Road Campground).

“Never been on our local Rails-to-Trails bike trail?  Been curious about it?  That’s where our next ride, and Junior Ranger adventure, is going to be” said Park Ranger Butch Davis.  “For a special treat, we will be visiting Wilderness Road State Park for their Militia Muster and Frontier Frolic.  Adults and teens can ride too, and will be guided to the end of the trail in Ewing, with a return to the gazebo parking area if desired” said Davis.

Parents should plan on picking up Junior Rangers at Wilderness Road State Park at approximately 12:30 p.m.  As Wilderness Road State Park will be featuring several colonial-era programs, families are encouraged to make a day of it.  “Everyone’s invited---all of our Junior Rangers, friends, and family members.  Like our other Junior Ranger events, there’s no charge---you just need a bike, a helmet and a desire for adventure” said Davis.
