Cowpens National Battlefield’s summer schedule is full of fun for the family. Beginning on May 30, reenactors will fire the park’s 3-pounder cannon at 10:30, 11:30, 1:30, and 3:30. The reenacting unit, 1st Maryland, Southern Campaign will have a living history encampment on June 6-7. They will only give musket firing demonstrations on Saturday, June 6, but will have a military encampment set up on both days. On July 3, Cowpens National Battlefield will host Family Fun and Fireworks. The day will begin with guided battlefield walks at 9:30 a.m. and end with fireworks beginning about 9:00 p.m. On the third Sunday of each month through September, Cowpens National Battlefield is also having a Sunday in the Park. From 2:00 – 4:00, a volunteer will be at the Robert Scruggs House to demonstrate and teach quill writing and other 18th century skills. Cowpens National Battlefield is the site of the American victory over the British on January 17, 1781 and is located 10 miles west of Gaffney, SC, and 3 miles east of Chesnee, SC at the intersection of Highways 11, 110, and 221-A.
