Teacher Ranger Teacher Program Returns to Springfield Armory National Historic Site For the Summer of 2019
SPRINGFIELD, MA: Springfield Armory National Historic Site is seeking applicants for a summer Teacher Ranger Teacher (TRT) program. The National Park Service TRT program is an extended professional development opportunity for educators from K-12 schools to learn about the resources and educational materials available through the National Park Service.
Teachers participating in the Teacher Ranger Teacher program will have the opportunity to engage in parks and park resources, participate in a webinar about lesson planning, develop at least one lesson to be used in their classroom or school, assist the park with an education project, and increase their understanding of place-based learning. As part of the program, teachers receive a $3,000 stipend and 3 graduate credits from the University of Colorado, Denver. The teacher will spend between four to six weeks at Springfield Armory during the summer of 2019.
“This is a great opportunity not only for the teacher but for the Armory as well as students in the Pioneer Valley community and beyond. The 2018 TRT program was a great success and we are excited to be able to give teachers the chance to participate once again,” explained Education Specialist Scott Gausen.
Applications are being accepted until May 17. If you are interested please contact Scott Gausen at e-mail us or 413-348-9477. More information can be found at http://teacherrangerteacher.
