Holiday Closures and Hours
The Saddlehorn Visitor Center at Colorado National Monument will be closed for the Thanksgiving (11/23), Christmas (12/25) and New Year’s Day (1/1/2018) holidays. Rim Rock Drive, Saddlehorn campground (Loop A) and the rest of the monument will remain open as winter weather permits. The visitor center will shift to winter hours of 9:00am-4:30pm on Monday, November 27, 2017. With the exception of the holidays, the visitor center is open seven days a week. For those who enjoy peace and solitude, winter is a wonderful time to visit Colorado National Monument. Experience the quiet of a hike in the canyons or the beauty of rock formations from the overlooks. Please use caution on roads and trails if winter conditions are present. Unsuspected Retreats: A Look at Bat Roosts of the West
On Monday, October 30, 2017, Colorado National Monument is pleased to host a presentation by Dan Neubaum on the bats of Colorado. Neubaum, with B.S. and M.S. degrees from Colorado State University, is a well-known as a researcher and presenter helping people understand the amazing world of bats. This free presentation begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Visitor Center auditorium. Free reservations are required; please call 970-858-3617 ext 360.

Free Admission on Veterans Day Weekend 2017
To honor veterans who have served our country, Colorado National Monument will offer free entrance to all visitors on November 11 and 12, 2017 in honor of Veterans Day.

Colorado National Monument Hosts First Plein Air Event
Colorado National Monument and Colorado National Monument Association are thrilled to announce the first annual Plein Air Event, October 3-7, 2017. During this week we have invited over 20 artists to come and paint the beautiful scenery of Colorado National Monument. Come visit the monument and watch as artists create stunning works of art. The art will be displayed at the visitor center and available for purchase.

Tour of the Moon Bicycle Tour to Travel through Colorado National Monument
On Saturday, September 30, 2017, the Tour of the Moon recreational bicycle ride will travel through Colorado National Monument. The touring cyclists will travel over Rim Rock Drive, entering the Monument at the west entrance near Fruita and exiting onto Monument Road in Grand Junction. Cyclists will be limited to east bound lane. Event organizers are anticipating the 2,000 cyclists will be riding in the Monument from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Pop-up Museum with "Then & Now" Photographic Exhibit
On Saturday September, 23, 2017, Colorado National Monument will host a Pop-up Museum. This crowd-sourced activity allows community members the opportunity to share their favorite collections of artifacts, photos, postcards, passport books, ornaments, and mementos from Colorado National Monument with visitors and other history enthusiasts. The monument will have tables set up to for people to display their treasures and tell their stories.
