MOUNT PLEASANT, SC – New museum exhibits will be unveiled at Charles Pinckney National Historic Site on Saturday, August 6. Be one of the first visitors to see the new interactive exhibits at the historic house, which will include information on Charles Pinckney, his contributions to the US Constitution, enslavement at Snee Farm, and Gullah Geechee culture. Come experience the grand opening from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Visitors are invited to the park for this free community event. Keynote remarks will begin at 10:00 am followed by a ribbon cutting and opening of the museum. Gullah Geechee singers will perform at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm, at 12:00 pm there will be a guest presentation on West African influences on cooking and African griot-style storytelling, and there will be a ranger guided program at 2:00 pm.
“At Charles Pinckney National Historic Site, we strive to share inclusive stories and provide connections to this historically important place,” said Acting Superintendent Bill Reilly. “We are excited to have this opportunity to highlight and bring to life the contributions of Charles Pinckney and Gullah Geechee culture through the new exhibits.”
