Take a step back in time through exploring this time capsule of historic photos, historic toys, children’s costumes, a scale model of a boat’s mule stable and dioramas (miniature three-dimensional figures of the canal and boats)!

The Trolley Barn is located across the parking lot from the Visitors Center (Cushwa Basin Building).

Interesting Facts:

The first Trolley line in Washington County, Maryland was built in 1896 and ran from Williamsport to Hagerstown. The Conococheague Creek provided water for the Steam-powered generating station, which in turn provided electricity for the new trolley line.

Accessibility Information

Trolley Barn is wheelchair accessible, though the entrance has a slightly steep incline on a gravel surface and Video has closed captioning.
