Fort Oglethorpe, GA: Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park invites the public to attend a special two-hour driving/walking tour ofChickamauga Battlefield on Saturday, January 24 at 2 pm. Participants will meet at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center and drive to several points on the battlefield. There will also be a half mile of walking involved during this program.

Visitors will explore a part of the battlefield that is not often seen –the terrain that affected the actions that ripped the US Army of the Cumberland apart and presented what one Confederate officer called, "A Scene of Unsurpassed Grandeur." This tour will take advantage of the lack of foliage to view the terrain features that played such an important role in the battle.

A good understanding of the ground often determines who will win and who will lose in a battle, and it also plays a big role in being able to understand the events and stories that occurred on a battlefield many years later. Participants are encouraged to come learn about how the landscape shaped the Battle of Chickamauga.

Please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the conditions.
