Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park invites the public to attend a special program associated with the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Wauhatchie. This 90-minute program begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2013. Join a Park Ranger to learn and discuss the Battle of Wauhatchie – a rare night battle of the Civil War fought October 28-29, 1863. Often overlooked in the Chattanooga Campaign, this affair in Lookout Valley further secured the "Cracker Line," the critical supply line that brought much-needed supplies to the Army of the Cumberland from Stevenson and Bridgeport, Alabama. This special program begins at the Chattanooga Arboretum and Nature Center parking lot and then will car caravan to sites associated with the Wauhatchie Battlefield. |
