Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia: Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park joins the Civil War Trust in inviting the public to participate in the annual Park Day on Saturday, April 2, 2016. attlefield landscape restoration, a trail reroute away from historic earthworks, and trash collection. All projects will begin at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center. Glass House Collective, a partner organization, will host a trash collection day at the base of Missionary Ridge near Sherman Reservation on Missionary Ridge. Project day registration will begin at 8:45 am at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center (3370 LaFayette Road, Fort Oglethorpe, GA 30742). Projects will be completed between noon and 1 pm and will include a special interpretive program about the work area. All volunteers will receive a special Civil War Trust t-shirt, as well as a free lunch provided courtesy of the Friends of the Park. Long pants and sturdy, close-toed shoes are required for all projects. Bringing your own gloves is recommended, but gloves and other personal protective equipment will be supplied by the park. Please be sure to wear weather appropriate clothing—the project will continue rain or shine!
