Meet Author Richard Baumgartner at Chickamauga Battlefield

Fort Oglethorpe, GA: Eastern National, a partner to the National Park Service, would like to invite the public to meet author Richard Baumgartner on Independence Day weekend. He will be at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, through Sunday July 6, 2014 to talk about and sign his books. 

Richard Baumgartner has authored numerous books about the Civil War, including Blue Lightning: Wilder's Mounted Infantry Brigade in the Battle of Chickamauga.  Many visitors have embraced the magnificent view atop the 85-foot Monument that represents Colonel John T. Wilder's Lightning Brigade that fought during the Battle of Chickamauga Sept 18 – 20, 1863. 

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Kennesaw Mountain June 1864 and Echoes of Battle: The Atlanta Campaign, are among books written by Baumgartner, a former award-winning newspaper journalist. His other works include Blood and Sacrifice: The Civil War Journal of a Confederate Soldier, The Bully Boys and his latest publication, Fractured Paths of Duty, the first book ever published about the 92nd Ohio, which fought at the Battles of Chickamauga and Chattanooga.
