Fort Oglethorpe, GA: Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park invites the public to attend a special two-hour walking tour on Saturday, August 1 at 10 am, at Sherman Reservation on the Missionary Ridge Battlefield.

Memory can be deceiving, at times obscuring what really happened. Legends become facts, myths become reality. As veterans attempted to create Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park over 25 years after the battle occurred, a new fight emerged over everything from unit names to the placement of monuments. Who—if anyone—held the correct memories?

Join Park Guide Lee White to hear some of these stories and uncover some of the hidden truths. Visitors are encouraged to bring a water bottle, comfortable shoes, and a portable chair. Sherman Reservation is located in Chattanooga on the north end of Missionary Ridge at the intersection of North Crest Road and Lightfoot Mill Road.
