Superintendent Shawn Benge invites you to attend a special living history program at Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15, 2007 The Living Historians of the 37th Tennessee Reenactment Group will be portraying Confederate soldiers from the Army of Tennessee and will conduct Infantry Demonstrations and camp talks on the Poe Field in the Chickamauga Battlefield. Special Program signs posted in the battlefield will direct you to the program location. Programs will be conducted at the following times: Saturday, July 14 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 4 p.m. Sunday, July 15 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. On September 19 and 20, 1863 the 37th Tennessee Volunteer Infantry Regiment was actively engaged in battle action on the Poe Farm. The 37th Tennessee was part of Brigadier General William Bate’s Brigade that suffered a casualty rate of greater than 30 % during the Battle of Chickamauga.
