Living History Programs

Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park's living history artillery crew will conduct artillery firing demonstrations, portraying the 4th Indiana Battery, commanded by Lieutenant David Flansburg. The battery, alongside other troops from U.S. Major General George Thomas’s Corps, engaged in intense combat on September 19, 1863. Their actions were pivotal in defending Kelly Field from repeated Confederate assaults. Visitors are invited to discover the history of the 4th Indiana Battery, immerse themselves in the environment experienced by these soldiers, and witness a live cannon firing demonstration.
