Pedestrian Access Still Allowed
"Visitor safety was our first consideration in deciding which sites to close," said Chattahoochee River Superintendent Patty Wissinger. "Neither of these sites has a boat ramp or affects river access for emergency services personnel. Both of these units have trail connections to other park units or neighborhoods, so people can still walk in if they want," she added. "The vehicle closures will be combined with removal of some trash cans and reduced mowing to meet our sequester budget goal." The vehicle closures are expected to lessen use of the sites due to reduced maintenance over the summer. Park officials will look at re-opening these parking lots in October depending on funding at that time. EXPERIENCE YOUR AMERICA ™ |
