The National Park Service announced today that the Paces Mill boat ramp located at US Highway 41 is being rebuilt to provide better access for river users. Contractor construction crews have closed the boat ramp. The ramp will remain closed while the construction work is in progress, which is estimated to be approximately one month.

Persons canoeing, kayaking, and rafting down the Chattahoochee River will be able to use a temporary river take out located 200 feet downstream from the closed boat ramp. Signs have been posted to direct river users to the temporary river take out.

“We know that this is the peak river use season and we apologize for any inconvenience,” said Superintendent Kevin Cheri, “however, this is the only time that the contractor was available to make these much needed improvements to this important boat ramp.”

The Paces Mill Unit of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is the southern most unit of the park and the last place for river users to exit the river. Located approximately two miles south of Cumberland Mall and Cobb Galleria on US Highway 41, the area includes a popular picnic area, informal activity field, and access to the Palisades West hiking trails.
