Paces Mill Site Clean Up Complete and Re-opened 5/12/03

On May 7, 2003 the Paces Mill area of Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area was temporarily closed due to concern for visitor safety. The heavy rainstorms experienced in the area last week had caused many sewer lines in or near the river to overload causing overflow of raw sewage into the tributary creeks and streams of the Chattahoochee River and on to the surrounding parklands. 

Cobb County Water System responded quickly, cleaning up Paces Mill area located off of Cobb County Parkway. This section of Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is now reopened to the public.
