Sandy Springs: On Monday, January 20, 2014, Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA) will join the other 401 units of the National Park Service in waiving entry fees as part of the National Park Service’s celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The usual $3 daily entrance fee will not be collected at boat ramps, picnic areas, and parking lots in the CRNRA. “This year is the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Atlanta and the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act,” said CRNRA Superintendent Bill Cox. “We are fortunate here in Atlanta to be so near Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site downtown, as well as Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.
