Daily Fee Will Remain at $3 
Sandy Springs, Ga.: Following a month-long public comment period in November, 2013, and approval from the Washington office of the National Park Service, Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA) will increase the price of annual park passes from $25 to $35, effective May 1, 2014. The daily pass price will remain the same at $3. “The additional $120,000 per year that the park expects to raise from this increase will fund projects our members support and use,” wrote Jim Schulz, President of the Chattahoochee Parks Conservancy, the official friends group of CRNRA, in a letter of support sent by the group to the National Park Service. The letter cited needed improvements at various restrooms as well as the “BacteriAlert” web site as some of the projects funded by fees at CRNRA. “For anyone who visits the park more than once a month, the annual pass is still a great deal,” pointed out CRNRA Superintendent Bill Cox. “By keeping the daily fee at $3, we still encourage new visitors, but the additional revenue generated by increasing the price of the annual pass will help us provide better facilities for everyone.” For more information on how Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area spends your fee dollars, please visit the feature, “Your Dollars at Work” on the park web site at https://www.nps.gov/chat/ Annual passes can be purchased in person using cash, check, or credit card at the Island Ford Visitor Center; over the phone, by calling 678-538-1200; by credit card only at any of six Automated Fee Machines (AFMs) located at our busiest parking areas; or on our web site at www.nps.gov/chat (go to the bottom of the home page and click on “Purchase Your Annual Park Pass Online.”) |
