The National Park Service (NPS) offers professional development opportunities for certified teachers across the country through the Teacher Corps Internship (TCI). Administration of the program, professional development hours and graduate credit hours are available to participants through the University of Colorado, Denver. Teachers will learn about park resources, participate in a variety of ranger duties, and develop at least one lesson related to the park to be used at school. Chamizal National Memorial interns will assist with the Trailblazer Find Your Park program, which gives local children the opportunity to visit public lands including city, state, and national parks of the area. The internship lasts from 6-8 weeks and provides a stipend of $2400. Housing is not included.

To apply for a TCI position, teachers should submit a resume to Kathy Denton, Education Specialist, to be received no later than close of business on Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Resumes may be submitted by email to Kathy_Denton@nps.gov or in person. To find the hours of operation or for more information about the internship, visit the Chamizal National Memorial website at www.nps.gov/cham or call Kathy Denton at 915-532-7273 x130.
