Soldadera Reader’s Theater and Discussion at Chamizal National Memorial on Wednesday, January 18, 2017
Superintendent F. Gus Sanchez is pleased to announce that on Wednesday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m., Chamizal National Memorial will host a free reader’s theater presentation of the play Soldadera by Josefina Niggli. The dramatic reading of the play in English by actors from Eden Enterprises will be followed by lively discussion.
In Soldadera, Mexican-American writer Josefina Niggli depicts the participation of women soldiers in Mexico’s revolution. February 5 is Constitution Day in Mexico. This year marks the centennial of Mexico’s current constitution. In recognition of the fact that the constitution was born out of the Mexican Revolution, Chamizal National Memorial offers this program as the first of this year’s “Chamizal Asks: What do You Think?” monthly, third-Wednesday programs. Please join us this Wednesday at the Chamizal National Memorial Theater located at 800 South San Marcial Street.
