Chamizal National Memorial to Host Reflections of Generosity Art Exhibit
Chamizal National Memorial Superintendent F. Gus Sanchez announces the opening of the Reflections of Generosity: Toward Restoration and Inner Peace art exhibit in the Memorial's Franklin G. Smith Gallery. This year's exhibit theme is Reflections of the Soul.
An opening reception is scheduled for 7-9 p.m. on Friday, May 1st. Reception festivities will feature music and song by a harpist, cellist, and an opera singer;guest speakers including Adair Margo and Mrs. MacFarland, the former "First Lady of Fort Bliss"; as well as the opportunity to meet many of the local and military artists who have and continue to rediscover inner peace and healing through their artwork.
"We are proud to support our military men and women who have also dedicated themselves to a life of service in helping protect our country and honored to host this special exhibit. National parks and other public lands have always been places of healing and restoration for the human spirit so I can't think of a more appropriate venue for this type of exhibit, one that helps bring healing and inner peace to our wounded warriors from all walks of life," says Superintendent Sanchez.
The Reflections of Generosity exhibit will be in the Franklin G. Smith Gallery beginning the evening of May 1st through the end of July. The Smith Gallery is open Mondays-Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and weekends by request.
Chamizal National Memorial is one of 407 units protected in the National Park System, but one of only a few national parks dedicated to the mission of commemorating and celebrating peace between two neighboring nations.

Smith.El tema de este año es Reflexiones del Alma.
La apertura será el viernes, 1ero de mayo de 7 a 9 p.m.La apertura contará con música y canto de un arpista, un violonchelista y una cantante de ópera;oradoras invitadas Adair Margo y la Señora MacFarland, la ex "Primera Dama de Fort Bliss";así como la oportunidad de conocer a muchos de los artistas locales y militares que han encontrado y continúan descubriendo el alivio y paz interior a través de sus obras de arte.
"Estamos orgullosos de apoyar a nuestros militares quienes se han dedicado a una vida de servicio y defensa de nuestra nación y es un honor presentar esta exhibición especial.Los parques nacionales y otros terrenos públicos siempre han sido lugares de sanidad y restauración para el espíritu humano, así que no puedo pensar en un lugar más apropiado para este tipo de exposición, una que ayuda a traer el restablecimiento y paz interior a nuestros guerreros heridos de todos los sectores de la vida," dice Director Sanchez.
Se exhibe Reflections of Generosity en la galería Franklin G. Smith desde el primero de mayo hasta finales de julio.La galería se abre de 9 a.m. a 4:30 p.m. de lunes a viernes y los fines de semana por petición.
