Chamizal National Memorial is pleased to announce several exciting upcoming events to be held at our local national park in the coming weeks. Unless noted otherwise, all events are free of charge. We hope you'll join us for these exciting events.

Through August 31 Local artist Michael Washer's "Desert Heart" exhibit is featured in the Abrazos Gallery, located in the west wing of the Visitor Center which is open 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Saturday, August 4 at 11 a.m. Junior Ranger Story Time. The park invites children to come read a story and do a thematically-related craft with a Park Ranger. Meet at the Visitor Center.

Sunday, August 5 at 7:30 p.m. Music Under the Stars Come listen to the Motown sound of The Big Easy from right here in El Paso this Sunday at the park's outdoor amphitheater. This annual concert series is hosted through a partnership with the City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department. Reminder that no pets or outside alcoholic beverages are allowed.

Friday, August 10 from 2-4 p.m. in the Spanish Garden. Come learn about collagraphy, a print-making process at a free workshop with local artists Oscar Moya and Lydia Limas. This workshop is sponsored by the City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department. At 7:30 p.m., the Pan American Dance Institute will present "The Lady of the White Sands" in the Theater. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students, seniors, and children.

Saturday, August 11 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Opening reception for the "Esencia de Mujer: The Essence of Womanhood" exhibit by the Juntos Art Association in the Los Paisanos Gallery. The exhibit will be open through September 26. At 7:30 p.m., the Pan American Dance Institute will present "The Lady of the White Sands" in the Theater. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students, seniors, and children.

Sunday, August 12 at 7:30 p.m. Music Under the Stars Come listen to Mariachi Reyna de los Angeles from El Monte, California at the park's outdoor amphitheater. This annual concert series is hosted through a partnership with the City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department. This is the final concert for the 2012 season. Reminder that no pets or outside alcoholic beverages are allowed.

Saturday, August 18 at 11 a.m. in the Spanish Garden. This month's Junior Ranger Craft Program is extra special. Children and families are invited to come make clay bowls that will help feed local El Paso residents in need with Park Rangers and UTEP students involved in this community project.

At 6 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 19 Expressions Dance Academy will perform ballet numbers in the Theater.

A reminder that children of all ages can complete age-related activities and earn their Junior Ranger badge and patch to become Chamizal National Memorial Junior Rangers at these events as well as any other day.
