Virtually Experience the Rock of Ages Program

On December 19, Carlsbad Caverns National Park will begin to release nine podcasts to experience the Rock of Ages Program. Two radio theater episodes will be released each weekend for five weeks and made available on the park’s website. 

This year’s live performance of the Rock of Ages Program was changed to a podcast format for the safety of staff and visitors due to COVID-19.  

Carlsbad Caverns National Park has offered the Rock of Ages Program to visitors for nearly 20 years. This annual special event is ordinarily a lantern-lit guided tour through the front half of the Big Room in Carlsbad Cavern. It features a re-creation of the historic Rock of Ages Ceremony, which was regularly conducted in the Big Room from 1928 to 1944. It is a unique way to experience the wonders of Carlsbad Cavern and to be immersed in the park’s colorful history.
