Dark for the Park Alliance is helping restore quality night skies for Carlsbad Caverns National Park, and on January 8th they released new standards for New Mexico's oil and gas industry. While still maintaining job safety on site, Franklin Mountain Energy reduced unnecessary light pollution by adding light shielding and different color bulbs. Founded in 2023, Dark for the Park Alliance has collaborated with energy companies to help restore dark skies that benefit workplace safety, local communities, natural habitat, and night sky research. After installing glow reduction applications, light was reduced by 99% when it was measured up to 25 miles away.
