CATOCTIN MOUNTAIN PARK ANNOUNCES UPCOMING PROGRAMS THURMONT, MD –The National Park Service celebrates its 100th birthday during 2016 and Catoctin Mountain Park will be offering a number of programs during this Centennial year. Additional events and programs will take place as well, so please check our website at www.nps.gov/cato for updates. Programs are offered at the national park or at other locations in conjunction with partners, such as the Frederick County Library system. There is no charge for any of the listed programs. March 8 - National Park Service History Location: Smithsburg, MD Public Library.Time: 7:00 p.m.Join in the celebration as "America's Best Idea" turns 100. The National Park Service was created in 1916 to protect some of America's greatest places. Learn about some of those special places and how the agency has grown during the past 100 years. Find out how you can join in the celebration and "Find Your Park". The program will include slides of some of the "crown jewels", and some of the lesser known parks.
