The Catoctin Mountain Park Visitor Center has been closed due to safety issues related to a pipe burst by recent low temperatures. The center will remain closed for the immediate future due to associated damage. Ceiling tile and carpet will need to be replaced. While there is no projected reopening date at this time, closure is anticipated through the end of February.

Trails will remain open during the Visitor Center closure. Facility reservations and special use permits will be honored.

Visitors are encouraged to check the park website at www.nps.gov/cato for updates on repairs and to obtain hiking and other pertinent park information. Park brochures will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Visitor Center Front Entrance. Park maps may be printed from the website

A portable toilet will be placed in the eastern end of the paved parking lot for visitor convenience. Visitors seeking America the Beautiful Senior and Access Passes are encouraged to contact Harpers Ferry National Historic Park or Antietam National Battlefield until the Visitor Center reopens.
