Castillo de San Marcos & Fort Matanzas Reopen
St. Augustine, FL – Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas National Monuments return to normal operations on Saturday, September 7, 2019, following a closure due to Hurricane Dorian.
Staff conducted assessments of both parks on Thursday, September 5, and spent Friday, September 6, preparing for reopening to the public. Castillo de San Marcos National Monument received only minor damage. Fort Matanzas National Monument sustained significant beach erosion, leading to the closure of the Beach Ramp parking lot. Fort Matanzas ferry operations are also suspended until repairs can be made to the damaged dock gangway.
