The Visitor Center/Park Store is open Tuesday - Sunday (6 days per week) from 9am to 5pm, inside the Sandburg Home. The online park store is open everyday!

The Park Store and visitor information area is a great place to start your visit! You can find information to plan your visit, register for a house tour, get a passport stamp, participate in the Jr Ranger or BARK Ranger programs, and get a schedule of upcoming events.

 

Interactive Exhibit

Inside the visitor center, you will find smiling rangers and volunteers as well as a small exhibit designed for hands-on fun! Experience writing a poem on a typewriter just like Carl Sandburg did while he lived here, or choose a record to play on the music player and enjoy listening to the tunes just like the Sandburg family did on many evenings! Then, tour the house with a ranger and put yourself in the shoes of the Sandburg Family! Use you imagination to feel what it would have been like to live in this house in the mid-1900s!

The park store is operated by America's National Parks, an official non-profit partner of the National Park Service dedicated to supporting the educational mission of Carl Sandburg Home NHS. The park store has a wide range of books, media, educational games, and other items available for retail sale. All purchases made at the Park Store directly benefit the Interpretation and Education programs at Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site!
