This layer does not occur in Canyonlands, but is dramatically visible throughout Arches National Park.

Deposited:
Mid to late Jurassic (144 to 208 million years ago)

Depositional Environment:
Windblown sand dunes

Appearance:
Red, cross-bedded, arch-forming sandstone

Example:
Monitor and Merrimac buttes along Highway 313 to the Island in the Sky
