Harkers Island, NC - Cape Lookout National Seashore facilities are open again following Tropical Storm Michael’s pass through North Carolina on Thursday.
As of noon, today, here is the status of the following facilities:
- The Harkers Island Visitor Center, Beaufort Visitor Information Center, and the Great Island Cabin Camp Office (South Core) are open.
- The Light Station Visitor Center and the Keepers Quarters Museum will reopen on Saturday, October 13.
- Long Point cabin camp remains closed after Hurricane Florence. Reservations are cancelled for the rest of the season. With damages to infrastructure and buildings, the park hopes to reopen Long Point Cabin Camp in Spring 2019.
- Vehicle Ferry service (Morris Marina) is operational for island access.
- Gas is available for sale and Dump Station are available for use.
- No Ice Available at this time.
- Island Express Ferry Service, the park’s authorized passenger ferry concessionaire, will resume operations to South Core and Shackleford Banks on Saturday, October 13. - Morris Marina (Atlantic, NC; (252) 225-4261) and Cape Lookout Cabins and Camps Ferry Service (Davis, NC; (252) 729-9751), and Davis Shore Ferry (Davis, NC; (252) 729-3474) are all open again for vehicle ferry service.
- North Core, South Core, and Shackleford Banks are all open for visitor day use and overnight camping.
