The National Park Service prepares a variety of planning and environmental documents to help guide it in managing park resources. Theses documents can range from site-specific impact analyses on facility locations to broader park-wide plans for future use and management of a park.

- Wildlife Management -- annual reports and other information about nesting birds, turtles, the Shackleford Banks horses as well as endemic plant species.
- Historic Site Management -- Historic resource studies, historic structures reports, historic landscape reports and other information about the buildings and structures within the seashore's two historic districts.
