At approximately 5:15 pm on Monday, September 8, National Park Service and Marion County Sheriff law enforcement responded to a 911 call by park campers reporting gunshots in Loop A of the Buffalo Point Campground located within Buffalo National River. NPS rangers arrived on scene to find a female victim identified as Tommie Prickett age 61 of Alexander, Arkansas who had been shot numerous times. She was transported via helicopter to Cox Medical Center in Springfield Missouri where, according to a statement from the Marion County Sheriff's Office, she was listed in stable but critical condition as of around noon on September 9th. Arrested at the scene was her husband John Prickett Jr., age 51 also of Alexander, Arkansas. John Pricket, Jr. was charged in Marion County Circuit Court with criminal attempt to commit capital murder 1stdegree, a Class A Felony. Bond was set at $250,000.00. The NPS is taking the lead in this investigation which required a temporary closure of the Loop A portion of the campground. Other agencies assisting were members of the Flippin Police Department as well as the 14thDrug Task Force. |
