Completed in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration, the project adds the final 2.7-mile segment of the 24-mile pathway connecting Bryce Point in Bryce Canyon National Park to Red Canyon in Dixie National Forest. Construction on the final segment began in May 2025 and concluded in September 2026.
Within the park, the paved pathway provides a safe and scenic transportation and recreation corridor linking some of the park's most visited destinations, including the Visitor Center, Sunrise Point, Bryce Canyon Lodge, Sunset Point, Inspiration Point, Bryce Point and both park campgrounds.
"The completion of this final segment of the paved pathway creates new opportunities for visitors to experience Bryce Canyon without relying solely on a vehicle," said BJ Cluff, Program Manager, Visitor Experiences. "The Shared Use Path expands access, supports sustainable transportation and offers another way to enjoy the park's remarkable scenery.
"Open to pedestrians, cyclists, wheelchair users, leashed pets, non-motorized scooters, skaters, longboarders and seasonal cross-country skiers, the pathway connects the iconic formations of Bryce Canyon National Park with those of Red Canyon. Commonly known as the Canyon2Canyon Trail, the route offers visitors a unique way to explore the Bryce Canyon area at their own pace.
Visitors who do not bring a bicycle may rent one from local outfitters operating in and around Bryce Canyon. During winter, portions of the pathway may provide opportunities for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, with equipment rentals available in Bryce Canyon City.
From April through October, the park's free shuttle system complements the Shared Use Path and serves all major viewpoints along the route. Shuttle buses accommodate up to two bicycles on front-mounted racks, allowing visitors to ride the shuttle to Bryce Point and enjoy a mostly downhill, seven-mile ride back toward the Visitor Center and Shuttle Station.
Bicycle racks are available at viewpoints, the Bryce Canyon Lodge, Visitor Center, and Shuttle Station. Bicycles are not permitted on the Rim Trail or at viewpoint overlooks.
